BlockShipping is creating the "Global Shared Container Platform," also known as the GSCP platform. It is based on blockchain tech, and is a registry for freight containers that allows people in the industry to handle any number of different transactions. Blockshipping is a Danish company with over seventy five years of experience in the shipping container industry.
There are a huge number of shipping containers in transit throughout the world, but currently the industry lacks efficiency. The Global Shared Container Platform aims to solve much of this efficiency problem. The main component of the GSCP is to use blockchain to provide a complete asset registry of containers along with locations in real time. With more than twenty seven million containers being used around the world, BlockShipping has a goal of gaining sixty percent coverage in about four years time, which would be sixteen million containers registered.
Other features in development and goals are becoming the main payment platform between parties, becoming the industry leader in the Internet of Things for containers, and monetizing data from their operations. Blockchain use can provide increased transparency, a reduction of costs, and automated smart contracts.
BlockShipping is conducting a token sale for fund raising. There are going to be two different tokens used on the platform. The CPT token, or Container Platform Token, will be used by the people utilizing the platform and performing internal transactions. It will use its own private blockchain. The other token is the CCC token, or Container Crypto Coin. This token will use the Ethereum blockchain and be publicly traded. A portion of the fees from transactions on the GSCP platform will be paid out to holders of the CCC token. The CCC token is what will be issued during the token sale.
